NEW TRAINING: Integrative Relational Trauma Therapy: A trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapy and CBT Approach to the Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse
Overview:
This two day training will provide participants with a comprehensive framework to treat children and teens who have experienced child sexual abuse.
This treatment approach is grounded in attachment theory, the psychophysiology of trauma, expressive arts therapy and CBT.
This approach is guided by the belief that sexual abuse/ relational trauma is a sensory experience, not a disorder.
Integrative Relational Trauma Therapy is a 4 phase model of treatment including Assessment and Resource Building, Trauma Resolution, Cognitive and Affective Processing and Psycho-education/Claiming Strengths.
Training Objectives:
- provide a practical, structured framework that guides treatment to child sexual abuse
- integration of trauma informed expressive arts therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy
- learn structured, atrs-based, sensory interventions to effectively treat key trauma reactions which promote self-regulation
- learn to incorporate concepts of resilience and post-traumatic growth to support the movement from victim to survivor thinking

- The art of doll making, when approached intuitively, is a wonderful way to free up creativity and express thoughts, feelings and stories in visual form.
- What color is joy, what shape is fragility? The art created is as unique as the maker.
- Materials are supplied (fabric, wood, stone, found objects) though participants are encouraged to bring a few treasures of their own to add to the work.
- Techniques include gluing, wrapping, knotting and/or sewing the dolls together.

- This is an opportunity for therapists to deepen their experience of using expressive arts both personally and professionally.
- This will be a closed group and will be limited to 6 – 8 participants.
