NEW PROGRAM: Advanced Diploma in Art Therapy
The Program
The Advanced Diploma is designed for professionals who already have a master’s degree in a related field, wish to work while they complete the program and those who may live outside of Calgary. The program begins with a 2 week summer intensive, followed by a one week winter intensive in January and the course work is completed with a second 2 week summer intensive. The program ends with a final creative project.
Requirements for Application
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, education, counseling
- Courses in Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Personality, Introduction to Human Growth and Development and Research Methods
- Demonstration of related work experience both in the arts and counseling
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Criminal record check
- Recommended: Personal experience with therapy prior to program (50 hours) and 25 hours of therapy with an arts therapist during the year of study
Application Procedure
Applications will be accepted until May 31st unless room remains for more students. Once all the application materials are received, an interview will be arranged. Once accepted into the program a non-refundable $200 tuition deposit is required.

Tuition:$14,000 (paid in 4 installments)
Books and Materials:$500 (approximately)
Application Fee:$80 Mandatory Professional Liability Insurance: To Be Announced
Students are responsible for purchasing required texts in advance and for any camera costs. Personal therapy is also extra.
